Appearance
An inflatable marble armchair floats in an oval water basin. A trône. The edges of the basin slope gently. The “plastic chair” trône stands in a large body of water. In front of the trône, within the basin, there is a stone positioned just below the water surface to make climbing onto the trône easier. At the edge of the basin, there is a chrome steel tap that serves as a water source. Three water nozzles are integrated into the basin floor, supplying it with water. They release the water at different pressures, creating a bubbling effect. The water does not flow continuously but in irregular intervals. At the rim of the basin, there is an elongated area for water drainage.

Idea
No matter the age – young or old. Regardless of status – rich or poor. We all need to dream. An invitation to dream … The trône is a symbolic image of the fantasies behind all dreams. It invites you to sit on it and dream. Originally conceived in the form of an easily burst, inflatable plastic chair, the object made of marble appears both confusing and soft, yet also stable and secure. The oval surface of water surrounding the trône allows for boundless dreaming, while the bubbling water stimulates the imagination. Even if reality is as hard as marble and the “plastic” trône seems on the verge of bursting, dreaming should still remain possible …

Choice of material Carrara marble for the sculpture
The material comes from the warm south, from a place by the sea that invites dreaming. This noble stone evokes associations of wealth and power.

Water basin
Dimensions: oval, 1.5 × 4.4 metres, depth 12 cm. Material: cement-based surface, colour-matched to the surrounding floor tiles. Round plates: approx. 20 cm in diameter, 7 cm in height, integrated into the ground. Water nozzles: three water inlets integrated into the basin floor. Technology: regulator for water supply and water pressure. Optional: collection basin for an underground water pump.

Faucet
Dimensions: H 70 cm, Ø 10 cm.
Material: chrome steel.
Technology: water is activated at the push of a button.
